Environment of Libya
Fresh water supplies in Libya are very scarce. Beginning in 2012, the Libyan's are creating The Great Man Made River Project. It will be the largest water development scheme in the world. The project will bring water from under the Sahara Desert out to coastal cities. Libya has also been experiencing acid rain, causing soil and water sources to slowly deplete. The vegetation is scarce and very low lying to the ground. There are also some wild grasses and flowers along the coastline areas of Libya. For animal life in Libya there are desert hares, foxes, jackals, skunks, gazelles, wild cats, adders, ring doves, and partridges. Some of the natural resources are oil, petroleum, and gypsum. Gypsum is a mineral found in rocks, it can be used in fertilizer, and also is in plaster. For land reserves the Sahara Desert is partially saved for the animals and usually left alone by humans.
